HPV Vaccine: This vaccine prevents HPV with HPV by introducing virii species that are used in developing cervical cancer. At this point and time there are two types of HPV vaccine: Gardasil and Cervarix.

These vaccines have shown to protect women against two HPV types that commonly cause cervical cancer. Statistically speaking HPV is the most commonly transmitted sexual infection among the adult population with 80% of American women contracting one strain of HPV before their 50th birthday. While the vaccines have been proven to be effective, researchers and physicians still recommend regular pap smears.

Cancer Genome Anatomy Project: The goal of the project is the determination of the expression of gene profiles that effect cancer, precancer and normal cells. The research will hopefully lead to the eventual detection, diagnosis, and treatment of the cancer patient.

NCI Community Cancer Centers Program: This endeavor is currently in the pilot phase of testing and is part of a model that would expand awareness of cancer research, delivering the latest information and treatment to Americans across the country.
